Introduction to the Risograph

Introduction to the Risograph

  • 11000

In the last couple years, the Risograph has become the tool of choice for micro publishers, zine makers, comics artists, and illustrators. If you are tired of your xeroxed zines looking bland or your silk screened prints being too time consuming, risography is the perfect stepping stone with it’s high volume printing, easy-to-use interface, brightly colored soy based inks, and beautiful feathered halftones. Over the course of the class, you will learn the basics of operating the machines and troubleshooting strategies, and make a print and zine. Participants must come to the class ready with two color design, illustrations, images, or book pages to print.

Instructor: Walker Mettling is a Screen Printer, Cartoonist and teacher. He uses a couple of Risographs to print publications Providence Comics Consortium!

Class 1: Introduction to risography, look at examples of prints and books you can make on the riso, learn basic machine operation and registration, and print a small two color print.

Class 2: Go over machine troubleshooting, assemble a quick and dirty class collaborative zine, take turns printing our spreads, and collate and bind the zines.

Participants must attend ALL classes in order to be certified to use the risograph at AS220 Industries.
