Course Description
Learn how to lasercut textiles! This machine enables entirely new possibilities from easily cutting pattern pieces (within 1' x 2' dimensions) to creating new textures, functional decorations, dimensional objects, and even etching images or text onto fabric! We can work with both synthetic and natural fibers (both plant fibers and animal fibers.) Some materials will be provided, and you can also bring in your own fabrics. This class will also include sewing tutorials for lasercut textile applications. Different techniques will be demonstrated and experimenting will be encouraged!
Location and Parking
The AS220 Labs is located at the Mercantile at 131 Washington Street Providence RI. The Labs entrance is located at the back of the building on Lucie Way. There is 2 hour metered on street parking available, bring your quarters. We are also located near a parking garage with entry on Washington Street, look for the big blue parking sign.
Important Class Policies
Please be as respectful of the short time you and the other participants have to learn and be as on time as possible. If you arrive more than half an hour late we will not be able to teach you what you signed up for. Please plan ahead, it always takes time to find on street parking. To cancel your reservation, you must email labs@as220.org one week in advance, or risk losing your payment.
Cancellation of Classes
If minimum number is not met in class enrollment, the teacher may opt to cancel class. If this is the case, we will give a full refund of class payment and first choice to enroll in future classes. We will attempt to give as much notice as possible.
